A visit home in NY for the 4th of July

Here we are in Western NY for a couple of weeks.  The heat is really something this year.  All over, from what I hear. Mayville is Our Hometown!! Mayville is one of the most patriotic places we know.

Our favorite holiday in Mayville has always been Independence Day.  There's always been a parade at 10am and fireworks at 10pm with lots of activities in between.

Mayville has beautiful Chautauqua Lake that is 2 miles wide at its widest point and 17 miles long and approximately 13,000 acres.  There is the Chautauqua Belle, one of five operating steamboats left in North America, located on the lake and available for tour rides.

Mayville also has Chautauqua Institution. A nine week summer season with programs on religion, social and political issues, arts, education, recreation.

Mayville Cemetery has an erected  memorial to hometown veteran  heroes. People can purchase bricks for their family members that have served our country.

Gary worked 35 years for the Village of Mayville DPW. We do our best to come home once a year to see friends and family.
